Help for self-help is in the long term the best, probably also the only, way to improve the situation in poor countries. This requires a young generation who takes on responsibility for themselves and also their neighbors. During a volunteering assignment in Phnom Penh, I met adolescents from underprivileged families who cook every day for street children and study in the afternoons and evenings. In this way they assume responsibility for society and their own lives at an early age. I am convinced that Cambodia needs such people as future professionals, managers and entrepreneurs, I spontaneously committed to accompanying two of the students on their path with guidance and funding for studying. I am very pleased that, with Norbert and many other supporters, we can provide such direct support to a lot of other students. I hope we can motivate many more donors to enter in a one-on-one direct support of a student in Cambodia.

Helping young students and professionals to have a good start into their business life is one of my life missions. During my volunteer assignment in Cambodia I realized how hard it is for underprivileged students in this country to make their way through university. I want to provide my business and personal experience as well as my network to support students in Phnom Penh. At the same time I can learn a lot from them, as most of them are highly engaged and impressively agile.

In my view, one should not just send money to countries like Cambodia not knowing what it is going to be used for. It makes much more sense to support the education of people locally, how it is done by STUDAID. Education is enormous important and I hope, that our students pass on their skills to other people in Cambodia and assist others like our sponsors support them. This is my incentive of participating in STUDAID. It is great to be able to work with Norbert Lanter and Christoph Ramseier for a good cause.
